Creating a New Closet Space

Are you looking for ideas on how to re-do your closet?  Well here’s one!  One of our clients shared these pictures with us.  She had her local handyman come over and tear out her current closet (which was literally two separate closets with a hanging bar and shelf over it), open up a wall, and combine the space to make this.  Isn’t it gorgeous?

What helps make this fabulous is her eye for detail and impeccable organization.  Wouldn’t you be excited to get dressed in the morning if you opened your closet doors to this?  We would.

The drawers in the center are lined with black felt (velvet is another good choice) so you can easily see each piece of jewelry as you pull your accessories together while getting dressed.

Lining the sides of the center shelving are tiny gold hooks for necklaces – a genius use of space and an easy way to see all of your choices.

Something else to note?  This client has all the same hangers. Keeps it easy on the eye, and a space saver.  No ratty dry cleaning hangers in here!

We hope you’ve been inspired to clean, organize and purge!  Fall is on it’s way…….make your closet a happy place for the new season.

Houston Fashion Bloggers Love Green Street

You know when you have those moments of pure gratitude … this was one of them!

Jumpsuit (old, similar), Shoes, Purse, Sunglasses, Watch, Bracelet

An amazing group of Houston Fashion Bloggers were invited to Green Street Houston to check out this new venue (formerly Houston Pavilions) to shop, sip and spread the word! What an amazing group of talented women to be in the same company …

Not only did we have a great time shopping at BCBG and Forever XXI, we discovered a new place to shop for our clients. And recently, pictures from the night ended up all over the shopping center … VERY cool. I love what I do and what Mollie and I have established with Style Spies.

This was a great moment to sit back and realize hard work does pay off!

My sweet girls got a huge kick out of seeing their Mom … as many fashion shows we emcee or speak to large groups, this one they thought was funny! (Here they are to mimic my ‘silly face’ as they called it!)

And I thought I would try and recreate this serious shopping moment they snapped …

Thank you Green Street for a great event #GreenWithEnvy … I have been back many times to shop for my clients.

And also for making a sweet moment with my family!

Houston Weekend Recap: Vintage Antiquing

The words vintage and antiques.  In my world, that is similar to ‘You had me at hello’.

Clothes, furniture, books, you name it … I love most everything vintage and antiquing is pure joy to me  –  this weekend was the perfect combination of those two words, the Vintique Flea in Houston!

After church on Sunday, we head straight down to this adorable market to find rustic home decor, the most darling vintage clothing and jewelry and incredible architectural salvage.  As I strolled the aisle of treasures my husband and girls were savoring the food trucks. (Doesn’t food always make for happy campers?)

The lobster tacos were UUHHHmazing from Cousins Maine Lobster, we also tried the BBQ Brisket Egg Rolls from Wokker Texas Ranger – so yummy!

I can’t tell you how much I love being in a city that has these types of events – it brings us back to our many years in Chicago and we try and frequent them whenever we can.

I was so happy to capture this moment of my girls, I can only hope they stay this close forever!!! (clothing is Matilda Jane)

We had a great day of shopping and will be back!

Hat, Jacket, Cardigan, Jeans, Boots (similar), Bag

Until next weekend … xoxo

The Never Ending List

Does anyone else feel like, when it rains it pours?

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, Back to School is coming, Birthdays, Summer Vacations  … the list goes on!

There are so many things that I need want – so I keep them on my ‘watch list’ – Some are not so fun … some are YUMMY!

For my little baby girl who is about to turn FIVE (I tear up as I am writing this) – she is needing a room makeover and a few other essentials.

For my amazing husband who never gets ANYTHING! (that’s what happens in a house full of girls!).

For the never-ending house projects that keep moving down the list (new shoes seem to trim a light fixture over here!).

And last but not least … S.C.H.O.O.L. (I hate to even use that word as we LOVE summer).

And so it goes!!

I am sure there are many things I am leaving off (my list may take too long) – but this is the current ‘must haves’ for the time being!

One day and one purchase at a time – the list goes on.

White Out

Summer Whites.

Simple, Classic, Timeless.

I am obsessed with anything white these days. Makes our sun-kissed skin glow, our bleached hair shine and spells out s.u.m.m.e.r.!

FEED + Target = COOL

When you come across someone or some thing that brilliantly combines fashion and feeding others – it is awesome to witness.

Lauren Bush Lauren (niece of George W Bush and married to Ralph Lauren’s son, David) designed a cotton-burlap tote in 2005 that provided  a child with food for one year to fulfill a dream.   Fast forward today and her group has raised over $6 million for agencies worldwide.

She has teamed up with Target to launch a line of more than 50 FEED products … dish ware, outdoor gear, paper goods, totes, jewelry, paper goods and more. All sales will help feed hungry Americans.

How cool is that?

Each item has a  number indicating how many meals the product donates … brilliant.

We will definitely be running to Target to support this awesome collaboration!

Check out some of the items …

All of this and more to see …

We LOVE this … and hope you do to.  Please support those in need.

Available June 30th at your local Target.

On our Summer radar…..

Summer rolls around, and everything seems lovelier.  Maybe I am just seeing things through rose-colored glasses from all of the extra Vitamin D, but I want to try new things and be more adventurous.  What’s on my radar for the month of June?

First off, I must try the Skinnygirl Mojito.  I am a huge fan of Mojitos and love having one in the summer.  But of course, I’m not a huge fan of the calories and sugar content.  Cheers to this making the cut!

Now let’s talk about the Banana Republic/Milly collaboration.  I’m not overly impressed (I think they played it way too safe), but I do love these shorts.

Milly Collection Feathers Short, $55

A collab I’m much happier with the result is that of Target and Sam & Libby.  I was in there over the weekend and wanted to buy all of them!  Great prices, great timeless yet trendy enough style.  Here’s my favorite:

Sam & Libby Karina 3 Sandal, $24.99

This might seem silly, but I can’t stop thinking about ordering a few pairs of these barre socks.  You don’t have to wear them specifically for bar method, barre, or daily method classes (although the skids are super helpful during the workout) – and they will give your boring old white and black sock drawer a lift.  Aren’t the prints and colors cute?

Who knew socks with skids weren’t just for kids?

Barre Socks in Trekker Orange, $10

Barre Socks in Yellow Stripe, $10

These past couple of months a few of my friends and family members have had new babies.  What to get a 2nd or 3rd time Mom?  I actually saw this (well not this exact one)  in a client’s home recently and had to ask her where she had it made.

Etsy, of course! The shop is called Designs by Nicolina.  You can personalized this with your own size and color choices, and I plan to head to Hobby Lobby for a pretty white frame and mat.

‘First we had each other’ Art Print, $20.50

Lastly, I can’t get enough of Gorjana’s ‘Greer Bow Tie necklace.’  It would go with everything, and eliminates the need to have to layer your necklaces because it’s just interesting enough on it’s own.

Gorjana’s Greer Bow Tie Necklace, $80

Hope I’ve piqued your interest with a few things on my radar this month – what did I miss?  Please tell us what you’re thinking about for the first month of summer!

Monogramming Obsession

My name is Erin and I am currently obsessed with Monogramming.

Yes, it is true.

Lately, I am finding myself obsessed with initials, monogramming – and it may be a problem.

From the home …

to my girls …

to the runway!

My dear friend, Jodi has a business Keepsake Designs by JS that has filled my obsession for the moment and I had to share!

These are my recent purchases that I am LOVING!

For a girls night out …

Island Clutch $35 (Avail in more colors)

At the pool …

Floppy Pool Hat $28 (Avail in more colors)

and for my ‘not so good’ hair days!

Baseball Cap $21 (Avail in more colors)

I ADORE every one of them!  I have already worn my baseball hat to the gym a few times and the floppy hat can’t wait to make its debut for summer!

Perfect gifts for yourself and your friends …
