Greetings from Texas!
We are continuing to show you the ACTUAL closets of not only Mollie and I but in the future some of our amazing clients that we have had the pleasure of working with. Today, I get to show you my closet and the changes it has made since moving into a new house only a few short months ago.
We love working with our clients and helping them organize, edit and clean out their closets and trust me – after moving to a new state and piece by piece going through my own items – I know firsthand how important it is and how tedious it can be.
Let me start off by saying this is ‘A WORK IN PROGRESS’ that I am excited about and am sure it will change as months go by. Is it my perfect, ideal space for my closet??? NO! – BUT that does not mean it won’t be the perfect space for me in our gorgeous new house!
BEFORE
Scary, right? Please don’t judge, moving is not fun!
AFTER
Better, right? I organized each side of the closet putting my dresses together (by sleeve length and skirt length), tanks, long sleeves, etc all together (and color coded). My gyms/athletic shoes are on one side of the closet and I kept my flats, boots and others with my dressier pieces. I wanted to make sure my shoes and accessories are easily seen so they are visible when making clothing decisions.
The built in clothing rods did not seem practical to me so I decided to use them as display cubbies for my items. I used key hooks from The Container Store for my statement necklaces (without screwing into the wood) and put the jewelry pieces I wear most to the right on display using a bracelet holder, earring spinner and a mini glass dish I found on sale at Hobby Lobby. I added a mirror behind them so I could make quick decisions before heading out the door. My fedoras somehow got their own shelf along with my favorite LD Tuttle booties and other favorites kept in boxes.
What do I want to add to my closet?
Huggable hangers for sure. These are a MUST and now that everything is organized I wanted to have a count of how many I would need.
A gorgeous light that is perfect for me but also doesn’t scare my husband (we share, he has a small corner you can’t see!).
A great rug runner for color and elegance.
Now, outside of my closet I have found a few other ways to keep my clothing and other items organized I wanted to share.
This is an idea I got from Pinterest and while out antique shopping one day I came across this vintage cake stand and knew it would be a perfect addition to our bathroom.
Another antique find as a gift that now hold the earrings from my wedding day and my favorite Lollia perfume that is perfect the day time.
The dresser in our bedroom hold my t-shirts, tanks and workout clothing. Instead of folding the tops one on top of the other, I have folded them and placed them upright so I can see all of them! Brilliant.
There it is! Thank you for taking a peek into my closet and stay tuned for new additions and changes I plan to make in the near future. I didn’t even get the chance to show you my handbags, jeans and belts – that’s for another post!
We hope that this gives you a better sense of closet styling and creative ways to organize and display some of your favorite pieces to help you get out the door in a speedy and stylish manner!
